Let's Talk About Words That Start With C

Today let's talk about some C words. I am sure you all are thinking C is for Cookie but today we are talking about some other C words.   Typically, on Friday each week, we talk about the news stories that are found under the heading of weird or odd.  But you and I know that each week this brings forth some crazy. Once in awhile, I see some cute, some creative, some classy or classless,  but for the most part articles classified as "weird news" contains some "crazy".  This week is no different.

Let's start with the Word...CAR.

Well....to be more specific, we are talking about a crazy man carrying a gun in a car.

Most of us have seen an erratic driver but have you ever pulled up along side of one, only to see a gun pointed at you.

David Kolloar was driving on Interstate 75 in  Madison County, Kentucky  on Monday and noticed a car driving in and out of the emergency lane. The car at one point  was appearing  to swerve into another car on it's left.   David pulled out his phone and started taping the situation.  He thought that he would have documentation available so he could call the police.

What he didn't expect was as he moved forward the erratic driver got next to him and lowered the window.
David hit his brakes to miss getting shot at. When he safely got off the road he called the authorities.

He said he wasn't trying to be a vigilante but he was worried about the safety of himself and others on the road.  His actions did lead the police to track down the gun toting driver.  Investigators found Dr. Perrin Dobyns in Indiana where he was arrested.

Police credit Kollar for the quick arrest because of the video and his awareness to get the man's license plate. The rest, they said, fell into place after they were able to confirm the man's identity and vehicle with Indiana State Police.

"We're not sure where he was coming from, and he had about another hour-and-a-half to two hour drive back home. So, there's no telling what actually could've happened after he left Madison County," said Trooper Robert Purdy of the Kentucky State Highway Patrol.

Police tell us that Dobyns works at the Branchville Correctional Facility, in Branchville, Indiana. WKYT contacted a local Sheriff's office who told us that Dobyns is actually the prison's doctor.

(Update: On Tuesday the doctor was returned to Kentucky and charged. He was to appear in court on Wednesday.)

How ironic is that...the gun toting doctor worked for a prison.  BUT according to the reports, they fired him. Clearly going from being a prison doctor to being a prisoner, isn't the ideal career path.

Cleaning Up the Evidence

An Oklahoma man was arrested on burglary charges after police matched his DNA to used toilet paper found at the scene of the crime, police said.

Charles Marqull Williams was charged Wednesday with burglary in Oklahoma County District Court for
allegedly stealing from an area home, The (Oklahoma City) Oklahoman reported.

Police said the suspect broke into the home, took several items, and used the bathroom before taking off.

Unflushed feces and a used piece of toilet paper on the floor were found at the scene. (on the floor, really??...Oink, Oink)

Police matched DNA found in the messy bathroom to Williams

How embarrassing for Charles, to have to admit "not flushing" got him thrown in the can.  TSK TSK...but aren't we curious if when the cops told him how they found him did he say "OH CRAP!.

And Last but Not the Least (crazy that is) is the Word Cheating

A married man reported that he had been robbed during a sexual encounter with a prostitute.  She, allegedly, picked his pocket of $9000.00 during a sexual act.  Evidently his attention was diverted at the time.

According to the Brisbane Court documentation, Navnish Bansai was approached while he was eating
supper at an Indian restaurant by a woman who asked him "if he was up for some fun".

They chatted a bit, negotiated a price and then proceeded to get into Boansai's car and drove to New Farm Park.

According to the victim, he claims that while the hooker was providing him with a service, she stole the 9K from his jacket pocket. She then got out of the car and ran across the soccer fields.

Bansai, who represented himself in court said the reason he had so much cash is that he had taken the money out of his wife's checking account to buy himself a new car.  The prosecuting attorney in the case said it was a "doozie" of a story.

The woman was located and Bansai got most of his money back but then.... he was arrested and charged with public solicitation of a prostitute.

Isn't there an old saying that a person who represents himself in court has a fool for a client?  What a great example.  What a fool!! I wonder if he will represent himself in the divorce hearing as well?  (that's just a guess on my part.)

I saw the road rage nut on the news this week. My belief that educated people don't do crazy things has been shown to be wrong many times unfortunately.
I know most everyone has times when you just gotta go but really don't you think he could hold it until he was done robbing the place? I wonder if he will be able to sit through his court trial.
He lost the farm at new farm park.

I have never had a gun pointed at me, in a car or otherwise but I've almost been hit by texting drivers a bunch of times. Perhaps they are more dangerous. You should send the article about the "toilet paper bandit" to Jay Leno for his stupid criminal bit. And Navnish deserves whatever he gets ... from the courts and his wife. As you say, Crazy.

Not flushing got that burglar thrown in the can? Still laughing over that one. have a terrific weekend.

Thanks Debra!! There truly is a lot of ill-thought out plans out there.

Have a great weekend!

I have come to the conclusion there are a lot of people that have the ability to learn material, retain it, even learn to use "reason" in whatever subject they majored in but don't have hardly a ounce of common sense.

You bring up a good point. Maybe the unflusher guy has some type of medical problem. Although, I am also, thinking maybe he is just a slob.

hahaha...lost the farm at new farm park. That he did.

Cheryl P. said...

No guns have ever been pointed my way, either. Let's hope in both our cases that continues to hold true. I think you might be right about the texters being more dangerous. They not only aren't looking at the road but are preoccupied with their typing. The gun holder might be at least looking at the traffic around him.

I wonder where Jay gets his headlines from,,,do people really send them in? I guess, I assumed his staffers pick through the Internet.

I agree with you about the cheating husband...he deserves whatever he gets. That is one area that I have no tolerance for.

Cheryl P. said...

So happy to hear you laughed. I, too saw some humor in that but still...pretty disgusting topic.

You and Mrs. C have a great weekend as well.

Well many people have medical problems are not slobs or robbers. I certainly don't offer this idea as any type of excuse.

Cherastotle? She's just become my new favorite character. Love her gown.

When I read that Dr. "Dumbbell" Dobyns worked at the prison I wondered if he was the shrink. Would be fitting, don't you think? He makes Massachusetts drivers look like saints and that's hard to do.

AletaObrien said...

Still laughing about the turd conviction. OMG!! I wonder who decided to fish them out and use it as evidence???

Cheryl P. said...

I am so glad you enjoyed Cherastotle. When I first used her a couple of years ago, I think I called her Cherocrates. Don't we have quite the versatile name to play around with. Funny about that gown. You would think a toga would be easy compared to other outfits but getting shading when you are drawing white clothing onto a white background isn't as easy as one would think. I am glad someone out there likes it.

That would be ironic if he was a shrink. None of the reports said exactly what he did but as they referred to him as the "prison's doctor", I am assuming his is a GP.

He makes most drivers look good in comparison. Does Massachusetts have crazy drivers? I usually hear people talk about Texas and California and not the whole state of Illinois but Chicago drivers...scary as hell.

Cheryl P. said...

Aleta, can you imagine when that guy's wife asked him over the supper table, "What did you do today?" Not to mention the poor schlobs that have to test stuff like that in a DNA testing lab. UGH!!

Cheryl P. said...

I wasn't offering up a medical condition as a reason for any of his bad behavior. I just meant maybe that is why he didn't wait until he was not robbing a place to stop and use the facilities...or maybe he just is stupid. I suspect it's the latter.

Cheryl said...

I think Cherastotle rolls off the tongue easier that Cherocrates, but that's just me. I started to call her gown a toga but reconsidered because it's so much more detailed and elegant than a draped sheet. I figured it was a difficult draw. I can't even draw a straight line or anything resembling a circle so I'm always impressed with people can do with pencil and paper.

I don't know if southern New Englanders use this expression but everyone who lives north of the border call MA drivers Massholes. Most of us even believe that we can spot a native Masshole by their driving even if they've moved north and have NH, ME, or VT tags. Yes, they are THAT bad. Back in the 90s, the DMV ran a program through their records and found that drivers with the worst records were originally from Massachusetts. It ain't the locals making California look bad. ;-)

I like it here! I think we will get along fine:-) Thanks for visiting CC (speaking of C words!) and commenting.

You're right that Cherastotle is easier to say. I don't know why I didn't think of it when I used that cartoon the first time. Which leads me to your other observation which is also, spot on. When I first started drawing Cherastotle, I wasn't planning on using her as a philosopher. I was planning on using her as a Greek Goddess and was going more for a Greek gown instead of a toga. At some point I needed a philospher to spout some sage advice and swiped my Goddess sketch and removed some jewelry and other adornments.
As for MA drivers being Massholes....that is hilarious. I have never heard that. What a riot (unless your on the road with them and maybe then not so funny) Maybe all the bad drivers in Chicago and Dallas are also from MA.

I agree...you and I are going to be blog friends for sure. I really enjoy your sense of humor. Very creative too.

Can't wait for the "D" words like Dingbat, Dumbell, Dufus etc....

I hate when people don't flush. What are they trying to do? Show it off? The worst is when they don't flush and there is no paper in the bowl. Ewwwwww!

Pretty bad when you gross out a former Marine.

Cheryl P. said...

I am grossed out by things like that as well, As a real estate agent my eyes have seen a lot I wish I could un-see. There are some real slobs in this world.

Cheryl P. said...

And let's not forget Disgusting, Disturbing, Drunken Deadbeats. D would be a long post, I think.

Who doesn't flush?!!! EEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWW
Even without DNA testing, they'd have to know it was a man.

Although this sentence was my favorite: Clearly going from being a prison doctor to being a prisoner, isn't the ideal career path.

You said it, girl!

Muttering "Damn Massholes" does help relieve the stress of driving when they invade. Sadly, that's year-round since to get anywhere from there, if they're coming from the eastern part of the state, they've got to drive through our little corner of paradise. I'm also a big fan of calling CT drivers Connettishits.

My guess is that Chicago and Dallas drivers are home grown. Not a lot of reasons for someone from this area to move to either place.

Cheryl P. said...

Seems the world has all manner of slobs. I see this more often than you would think in vacant houses for sale. EEEEEWWWWW is right. Were these people raised by barnyard animals???

I wonder if it occurred to the doctor that he was in a vehicle with a license plate that would be as clear as a flashing neon sign with his name. What an idiot.

Dexter Klemperer said...

I find it rather amazing they did the dna testing for a burglary. In my experience, the police might take a report and that's the last you hear about it. Guess that's one way Oklahoma has it better than Texas.

Cheryl P. said...

Must of been the Chief of Police's house that got broken into. We got robbed in Iowa and more than just a few things were taken. I doubt that the cops even wrote down our name and address. The one cop kept saying I should of had a better dead bolt. (translation: it was my fault by not having super-duper locks)
Surely, people would think twice before breaking into a house in TX. You guys have the "stand your ground" law. I'd be afraid some homeowner with a gun might take offense at having their stuff taken.

abeerfortheshower said...

Okay, so I don't know a thing about prostitutes, but wouldn't you think you'd go into that situation without any of your valuables? These are not exactly reputable ladies.

Also, that road rage story is horrifying. My wife has an old friend whose boyfriend just died from this about a week ago. He was being a tough guy during a road rage situation, got out of his car and started going toward the other car with some kind of baseball bat, and the other guy pulled out a gun and shot him.

This is why I don't even make eye contact with other drivers. I like being alive...

Cheryl P. said...

I find it refreshing to hear someone say they don't know a thing about prostitutes. Now had you started your comment with.."With my vast knowledge of hookers"....that would of played out differently.
I suspect you're right about not carry large sums of money on one's person during hooker engagments but none-the-less, I would bet if any prostitutes are reading this...you've gone and insulted them.
Seriously...that is terrible about your wife's friend's boyfriend. While, clearly, that wasn't a wise move to get out of a car with a baseball bat, no one should die over a road rage incident. That is horrible.
Very smart not to have interaction with other drivers. Lot'a crazy out there.

I only can shake my head and say "Really?" There are a lot of crazy idiots out there that are full of it! When I drive out there I mind my manners and never make any rude gestures......yikes.

Cheryl P. said...

Hi Kathe, Me too...I just don't trust that people wouldn't do something crazy. Typically, if I see some erratic driving, I try to get away from it.
