Oh, Those Kids!!!

OK...so maybe my kid coming for a visit might not rank as high as finding three girls that have been missing for 10 years or the ending of the verdict phase of  a "whackadoodle"  trial for Jodi Arias.....but it's news here at TAOBC.

As my loyal readers know, Friday is "ODD NEWS" Day around here and....Really could there be anything more bizarre  than  the case surrounding  Jodi Arias???   In 2008 Jodi did an interview with  Inside Edition saying "No jury is going to convict me. I am innocent, and you can mark my words on that.” She claimed that she killed her boyfriend, Travis Alexander in self-defense.  Seemingly,  there is a jury that can and did convict her.

BUT ON TO TODAY'S THEME....KIDS IN THE NEWS.

Reason Number #1 ......NOT to Upgrade

An  April robbery was among a series allegedly committed by the two 17-year-old boys, who were arrested and booked into Juvenile Hall on suspicion of armed robbery after they were tracked down in Berkeley, police said.

One of the teens apparently held up the woman at gunpoint. He demanded her iPhone, which she handed over, police said. BUT when the teen found that it was an older generation model, he gave it back to her.

That robbery happened several minutes after police responded to a man who had been robbed of his laptop and iPhone by two teens in his home, police said. The thieves kept that iPhone. (that victim must of had the decency of having a current model)

Berkeley police nabbed the teens about two hours after they handed back the iPhone, police said. After three reported robberies in Berkeley, police spotted a vehicle the teens were driving and notified authorities that the teens were found in possession of the stolen items from the earlier robberies in El Cerrito.

The teens later confessed to committing other robberies in Emeryville and Oakland.

Particular about what they steal, aren't they?  Wonder if the woman was insulted that they refused her phone.  Any bets on if she is now going to upgrade, knowing that her phone isn't even worth stealing?

The Principles of Principals

"There was a violation of policy, " Principal Miller-Brown told the New York Daily News.

A high school senior in Georgia was suspended from school after posting a mugshot of his principal on Instagram.

After learning of the incident, the same principal whose mug was involved, Principal Jamille Miller-Brown called KeAndre Varner into her office and slapped the student with a four day suspension.

Principal Miller-Brown went on to say to the NY Daily Times, that she felt uncomfortable discussing the details of the matter.

I guess there is a policy "Don't rat out your Principal's DUI busts".   I think Ms. Miller-Brown should be uncomfortable discussing this particular policy.

That Just Blows (Up)

Kiera Wilmot, a 16 year old student in Bartow, Florida, was arrested last week on charges of possession and discharge of a destructive device on school grounds, reports the Miami News Times.

The young Floridian was charged with two felonies after she mixed aluminum foil and toilet bowl cleaner in a water bottle which resulted in a small explosion.  The mini-explosion blew the cap off the bottle and produced a small amount of smoke.  No damage was reported.

Wilmot was charged with:
  • Making, possessing, and discharging a destructive device.  This is a third degree felony punishable by up to five years in prison in Florida.
  • Discharging a weapon on school property.  Displaying a weapon, firearm or destructive device in school or on school property can be punishable by up to five years in prison.
Despite the fact, Kiera was sent to a juvenile facility for detention, she is going to be tried as an adult. In the state of Florida, if a child is 16 years old at the time  of committing an alleged felony, she may be charged as an adult.

Teachers say they didn't realize what Wilmot was up to; the school's principle told the News Times, "I don't think she ever meant to hurt anyone."

Two FELONIES??? Seriously??? ....for a science project that went wrong???  My high school lab partner set my hair on fire.  I think we need to go back and send him to prison.

Never to Soon to Teach Your Kid to Buy Berkshire Hathaway

An author,  Nancy Rips and illustrator Tom Kerr, have teamed up on "My First Berkshire ABC" to teach children about one of the world's best-known companies, and a little about the billionaire behind it.

With Berkshire Hathaway class A hovering around $166,000 a share, perhaps the little ones need to start stuffing their little piggy banks now.
